About me

Raised bilingual by a traveling family with a Dutch mother and a Canadian father, Kiki developed her sense of language and her passion for adventure from a very young age. She grew up in the Netherlands, and went travelling again at the age of 19. After travelling through Asia, she landed in the Netherlands to study Anthropology at the University of Amsterdam. When her masters in International Development Studies led her to Mexico for research, she instantly fell in love with the culture and the beauty of the country. After she graduated with a thesis on Bilingual Indigenous Education, she decided to leave the comfort of her home and return to study and travel in Latin America.

She obtained her TEFL-degree in Antigua, Guatemala and went on multiple adventures exploring different countries before she finally landed once again in Mexico, where she taught English at a community college for 1,5 years. Besides teaching English to her students, Kiki had to learn Spanish. In the light of discovering the richness of a new culture, Kiki experienced first-hand how valuable it is to learn a new language. And because she knows how challenging and frustrating it can be at times, this experience has helped her to effectively guide her students in their learning process.

When her love for the lowlands called her back, she took her new passion for teaching with her to Amsterdam. And so her adventure continues here, in teaching internationals Dutch– an exciting way to meet new, interesting people from all over the world.
